Good School for Learning Truck Driving

I have just completed the 160 truck driving course. I had to study hard. This is an accelerated program of 160 hours total (40 hrs -Classroom and 120 hrs Driving Time). It is a lot of information to learn quickly and you get a lot of tests but the information is thorough. You should have good study skills or at least a good memory to go through this course. You should also be mechanically inclined as well as handle academics to complete this course. Both skills are needed. I do recommend this course but it is serious work. My classroom time was no problem but I dropped a Driveshaft on one of the trucks my first week in the driving portion of class. I developed the Nickname of Driveshaft Willie. I like it and think I will keep it. I now have my official Class A license. I am so proud and grateful. I recommend this course to anyone who has the determination and necessary skills to study hard. I am glad to join this family of workers. Good luck to all future truckers. Thank you 160 Driving Academy. 🙋🏽‍♂️🙏🏽

Recent Graduate from Pittsburgh

Overall a pretty solid experience. I did graduate, first try in the CDL test. My only gripe was while all the information was given to you, the student, in a easy to understand way, and everything, some of the instructors at the actual yard didn't convey information in the most friendly, or personable manner.

160 experience

Amazing, from the classroom to the yard. Great instructors who really cared and wanted to see you succeed. Could not have asked for a better experience.

Great experience

My training at 160 academy was one of the best experience of my life. I never been around a group of individuals who take great pride in their profession. Joe who I believe is the branch manager for 160 driving academy of Milwaukee was very professional and assisted me when ever there was an issue. Frank who is the lead instructor and yard manager made sure I was prepared every day for what ever tasks I was assigned. Lawrence was very tactical and practical in his approach with pre trips. Jerrold Durant is the best skills trainer in 160 driving academy. His passion to assist trainees through the difficulties each skill possess is truly remarkable. Each instructor brought forth incredible insight that I hope I can carry on into my new truck driving career. So thank you : James , Jessica, Russell, Patrick, Louise, Angel, Tony, Charlie, Lawrence, and Jerrold.

I loved 160!

I am very pleased with my experience at 160 crest hill location everyone was so helpful throughout my time in training from Nicole in the classroom to Tim, Lori, Curtis, Andre, and Jeremy in the yard! They really care about each student learning everything they need to in order to pass plus some! I'm so glad they pushed me everyday to study (because studying everyday does make a difference) & staying focused on the reason why I came. GREAT INSTRUCTORS

My experience was amazing and fast. I still can’t believe i’m officially a truck driver now. Thanks to all of my instructors starting with the first one on straight back was Brandon he was very helpful and made my time there fun. Then to skills was Bill such a great instructor and very helpful when struggling he would tell me exactly what I was doing wrong and would help me fix my problem. Then Lawrence taught me how to shift and I was having problems in the beginning but he had patience and helped me now my shifts go in like butter. For incab and pre trip I have to thank L because I was struggling so much and he even offered to help me after class to make sure I got it and also Gerald help me a lot and gave me good tips to remember everything. Once I got on the road I had Pat as one of my first instructors and he was very helpful as well he taught me how to make my turns wide and good without hitting any curbs once I got better I went on with Anthony another road instructor he was the most calmed instructor ever so he automatically made me feel comfortable and not nervous on the road so that made me perform even better. So I thank all of the instructors from Harvey that helped me I appreciate you all and I couldn’t of done it without you all. Then the instructors from South Holland those are the ones that prepared me for the actual test and helped me pass everything on the first try! Justin and Chris helped me improve my skills and Janice helped me get better on the road making sure I passed the test course she was very patient she was also funny always had a good laugh with her so that made things better and she always made sure I CHECK CHECK every time I crossed any train tracks. Thanks to her every time I cross tracks i’m going to hear her voice in my head saying check, check, double check! Lol THANK YOU ALL AND I APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU.

Not their fault

I attended 160, but I did not get my CDL because I messed up on my maneuvers and like other I am sure I wanted to blame the school.. but it is not and was not them. I am in another school and I am still having issues with the same maneuver. Just a note to others. Before you bad mouth someone or a place make sure you take a good look inside yourself, nine times out of ten the problem is within. I have not and will not talk bad about this or any other school.
