10/10 Recommend
I highly recommend this program if you’re looking to get your CDL. Lead instructor Chad and his yard instructors Randy, and Shawn are very experienced in getting you prepped for your CDL. The instructors keep good structure in the class room and the yard portion to make sure you will pass the first time.
Great experience!!!
My experience with 160 has been fantastic. The instructors, Don and Chris, in Charleston, WV, were incredibly helpful, patient, friendly, and professional. Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested!
One and Done!
Loved the whole experience. From the recruiter to the yard instructors, there was help and assistance throughout. Smooth sailing to get your CDL. They are there to help you get there and safely. One and done club baby.
160 Grit Crew 4-Life!
Dear 160 CDL Driving Academy, I would like to acknowledge the 160 Driving Academy (Palos Hills, IL) / 160 CDL-Training Yard (Harvey, IL) branches, for their impeccable strategy, training techniques and unwavering diligence of standing by everyone of their students who go through their courses. As a recent graduate of the 160 Driving Academy and recipient of the “One and Done” Club Award, an extinguished honor, for not having to redo any portion of the test and passing it on the first attempt. I surprised myself, and couldn't believe how well I did on testing day. Having no prior CDL training and suffering from test anxieties for as long as I can remember. I'm proud to say it was not luck, but the acquired skills that got me through it. I was like WOW, I did that! I would also like to give a shout-out to the Branch manager - Julie Mensching for going above and beyond for all her candidates, you truly have a “Heart of Gold”! Also, to the 160 Harvey Yard managers and Instructors. Who, regardless of rain, sleet or snow kept us focused, warm and safe in below freezing temps this winter season of 2025. As a Veteran of the US Armed Forces, I salute you for not leaving any man/woman behind. You sat in the trenches with your troops, regardless of the conditions. I commend you all, for you are the epitome of what a truck driving school should be modeled by. In conclusion, 160 Driving Academy encouraged me to believe in myself once again and to understand the importance of staying studious and focused regardless of past misfortunes and/or circumstances. Thanks again for the opportunity to procure a moment in life filled with personal growth, career advancement and a chance to achieve life long happiness via on-the-road success. I want all of you to know that you have my deepest and sincerest gratitude. As for my 2025 Graduating class, 160 Grit Crew, 4-life! Sincerely Antonio Aguirre A/K/A “The Doctor” P.S. Additional Honors and Acknowledgments go to Ms. Ware -IDES of Burbank, Ms. Del Valle - American Job Centers at RJD Colleges and Uncle Sam - the U.S. Department of Labor for their WIOA Grant Program. Thanks for your collaborative efforts, putting me one step closer to securing a career in transportation.
One and Done!
A shout out to Eldon who made what seemed to be a difficult task memorizing all aspect of the test and pre-trip become second nature. I appreciate you Eldon for taking every students success so personal., you are a huge asset to 160 driving academy
my experience at Monroe campus
I'm pretty sure all locations has great instructors but that might be an understatement compared to what I experienced at Monroe campus it always felt like home everyone was great not only did my instructor teach me the ropes in LESS than a week.. every instructor is always open to anyone asking questions trying to sharpen their skills ! I passed my test because I actually LEARNED how to drive these trucks along with other student who were with other instructors they improved so fast it was amazing and they'll always be considered family!
I had a great experience
I had a great experience with all the people in this program especially Amanda and Madison with the work one program. They are great people and great at there job.
Good truck driving school, great instructors
It took me only 5 weeks to get through the entire program and I got my CDL today. Big shout out to instructors Jo and Derek who my learning style related to the most, couldn't have done it without them. I would recommend 160 Academy to anybody who is pursuing their CDL. Thanks to the 160 community for changing my life and giving me a chance.
I finally got my license through 160 Academy thanks to Ralph Hooper!
I started my journey with 160 Academy in September of 2024. After finishing my classes and completing my hours in the program, I took and failed my cdl driving test 4 times (3 with 160 Academy and 1 time on my own outside with a different testing site (Schneider). When I failed my 2nd test, I was connected with Ralph Hooper who gave me some much needed words of encouragement and he told me that when I was ready, that he would help me in any way that he can to help me get my license. When I finally decided to give it another try, I set up my test date and Mr. Hooper not only made sure that I had a Sleeper truck to do my test in, but he also allowed me to practice the day before my test date even though I was way past being a 160 Academy student. I was greatful and thankful for that help because I finally got my CDL License when I tested the next day on 03/25/25! I want to thank you Mr. Hooper and my 160 instructors for bending over backwards to help me get my Lincense and for all of the support and encouragement along the way... My instructors at the Ft. Wayne, Indiana location are AWESOME by the way. Even though my location is listed as Gary, IN that is just where I tested and passed my exam, but all of my training and my school was actually in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. I now have to decide which company I want to begin my new career with as a truck driver! Thank you Mr. Ralph Hooper and 160 Academy.
I Highly Recommend 160 Driving Academy
Everyone at the 160 Driving Academy in Flint, MI were professional and very knowledgeable. I learned something positive from each one of the instructors who always made sure to go above and beyond what was required of them if myself or others had questions or concerns. Thanks again 160 for all of your hard work to help me succeed. Vic Chappel
