Meet Richard M

He didn’t think he’d make it this far. Enrolled in our Toledo CDL program, Richard came to us through a reentry program. He’s in recovery. He has a record. And he’s been told more times than he can count that he wasn’t good enough.

Then, during his training, he lost his father.

It nearly broke him. But what happened next didn’t just change his path—it helped rewrite his future.

A Lifeline Named Katherine

In Richard’s words, “My branch manager Kat didn’t let me fall. She’s been more than just admin—she’s been a lifeline.”

Katherine, the Toledo branch manager, didn’t see a man with a past. She saw a man with potential. She showed up every day with more than schedules and paperwork—she showed up with support, encouragement, and belief. Counseling. Motivation. Tough love when it mattered. A voice that said, “You matter. You’ve come too far to give up now.”

It’s that kind of belief that helps people change their story.

Richard isn’t finished with the program yet—but he’s already won something bigger than a license. For the first time in his life, he believes he can do it.
