Instructor performance

Really enjoying being able to have some instruction in a lighthearted and fun way with good tips on how to pass a CDL sincerely, enjoying my time here at 160 Academy with Matt in the Portland Clackamas area

Driving / Training with Matt

Matt was super great to work with! My classmate and I easily connected with him, and the concepts he presented (a major one, downshifting with a manual transmission). He provided some easier techniques to enable a "passing" drive!! I also very much appreciated him passing on information regarding how the market is drastically changing from Manual to Automatic Semi's (labor & maint. costs as a reason for exp) With Matt, my worry (anxiety) vanished trying to learn the "double clutching, down shifting- give it a bump in between, and don't grind the gear (or its 13 pts off of your test score) - 25mph = 7 gear 2+5=7 and tach plcmnt. has a sweet spot of 10-14 ish...... ... OMGoodness Thank you Matt I realize I can achieve my Comm. Drv. Lic. and be proud of my progress driving an AUTOMATIC!!!! ; )

Driving / Training with Jeff

I was able to practice driving with Jeff. A very laid back, and patient instructor. I did get some tips that helped (what to be aware of) while trying to get the timing down of double clutching. A Semi Tractor - can be challenging the first two times driving. He helped me calm down and focus on technique rather than the contractors (who were in a hurry) behind us.

Very good experienced friendly loving people especially one of the branch managers (Jennifer), she really took the time and guided me gently in getting my CLP... omg she awesome....

Great instruction!

I’m particularly pleased with the instructors of this school. Both of my instructors during the first week on Zoom made it highly engaging and entertaining. Moreover, during the time out in the yard included a lot of hours out over the road and I particularly enjoyed going out driving with Matt. He always made comfortable behind the wheel, but also got us to pay attention to everything needed in order to prepare for the final exam. It was a great way to build confidence and I’m looking forward to going in for the final exam! Thanks Matt!

Professional Instructors!

Ron, Ken and Jason were all amazing instructors! Very knowledgeable, very experienced, and awesome to drive with. I’m with Amazon was given 4 weeks to learn to drive, was ready to go by the 2nd week! Gave us everything we needed, and let us know what we lacked. Jason helped us knock out any issues on the spot, glad I came out here even if it was by force from Amazon, no regrets!
